After making serious noise in the Australia club scene with their interactive DJ set and lavish outfits, the GC boys landed themselves a few big festival slots that quickly turned the DJ set into a multi-layered Disco experience. Since then, they've gone on to sell out venues around the country in the form of 'Groove City's DiscoDeluxe'.Groove City has solidified themselves as a one-stop-shop for generating studio 54-esque dancefloors, and curating the vibe of the party as soon as they walk through the door.
Harvey Sutherland wrote his debut album “Boy” in a circular loop between his studio and his psychotherapist. A hypermodern groove, guided by his obsessional traits and habits, ending up in a place he describes as neurotic funk. “Electronic music has that archetype of the brooding, faceless producer”, he says, “I like hacking that, doing the opposite, embracing awkwardness and oversharing”. His face is on the cover.
The Melbourne-born record producer, keyboard player, club DJ and bandleader made a name amongst his hometown’s electronic underground with a string of cult disco singles and lo-fi cassette funk. Early 12-inches like “Bermuda” and “Priestess” were dance records in love with the sound of soul and disco music. But “Boy” is every bit the real deal.
His machine grooves are fired through a prism of crate-digging influences, from Todd Rundgren to Basic Channel and back again. His distinctive synthesiser tones have graced remixes and production for Disclosure, Khruangbin, Genesis Owusu and BadBadNotGood. A seasoned performer, he’s taken his live band to Glastonbury, dragged his Juno-60 into Berghain and turned the Melbourne Recital Centre into a full-fledged nightclub for his album launch. He is eclectic, obsessional and groovy. Harvey Sutherland is Neurotic Funk.

Formed in 2010 after an epic, two-week-long house party – which saw fresh faced teenagers bond over beers, cheers, tunes and partying – Melbourne six-piece Northeast Party House are back with their first taste of new music in over 2 years ‘Magnify’.
Produced by Northeast Party House and Kim Moyes (The Presets), the single is a dance anthem built around a soaring guitar hook that calls to club floors and festival fields.
Magnify attempts to “capture that moment with someone where your feelings are intensifying, and you crave that security of knowing they feel the same way” says guitarist Mitch Ansell.
San Cisco are a three-piece indie pop group from Fremantle, Western Australia. Set to an upbeat indie-pop groove on the cusp of innocence and heartbreak, this is where San Cisco lives. ‘Awkward’. ‘Too Much Time Together’. ‘About You’. Lovesick calls gone to voicemail and endless pondering of what went wrong.
Between You and Me is the fourth album by the indie trio from Fremantle released in late 2020. It was an album two years and at least one sadly remembered love affair in the making. Fremantle indie rock foursome Spacey Jane have cemented their position as one of Australia's most-loved bands.
Their debut album Sunlight, released in June 2020, entered the ARIA chart at No.2. Four tracks would be voted into triple j's Hottest 100 including fan-favourite “Booster Seat” landing at No.2, just behind Glass Animals' "Heat Waves”. “Booster Seat” would also soar into the ARIA Top 10 singles chart, achieving platinum sales while the band have accumulated over 88 million streams to date. The band - front man Caleb Harper, guitarist Ashton Hardman-Le Cornu, bassist Peppa Lane and drummer/manager Kieran Lama - spent the first half of 2021 finally getting to play sold-out COVID safe shows across the East Coast of Australia.

Drew Carmody, better known by his stage name L D R U, is an Australian DJ and record producer. His first single, "The Tropics", was released in 2013. L D R U is best known for the single "Keeping Score" featuring Paige IV. The track reached No. 14 on the Australian ARIA Charts and No. 22 on Triple J Hottest 100, 2015, and was nominated for a 2016 ARIA Award for Best Dance Release and for Breakthrough Artist. LDRU embarked on a capital cities tour of Australia in July 2016. His first studio album, Sizzlar, peaked at No. 66 on the ARIA Charts.
Fun fact: The name L D R U derives from the phrase "left, down, right, up", a part of a cheat code used in the Grand Theft Auto series of games.
Just in time for the grand re-opening of Australia’s dance floors and festival stages, Peking Duk, the dance music duo made up of Canberra natives Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles, are back with brand new music that builds on their back catalogue of absolute bangers.
With a discography that features platinum single after platinum single – from the ARIA Award-winning, four-times platinum single ‘High’ to the triple-platinum witching hour anthem ‘Stranger’ ft. Australia's Celia Pavey, better known as Vera Blue, is a lyrical singer/songwriter who combines her love of folk music with moody electronica.
Born in 1994 in Forbes, Australia, Pavey grew up listening to classic folk and pop music of the '60s and '70s while spending time surrounded by nature in her horticulturalist father's nursery. By her teens she was a gifted performer who could sing and play guitar and violin.
Despite her initial success, Pavey was restless to try something different and incorporate other influences into her sound. After meeting sibling producers Andy and Thom Mak, she began writing new material and experimenting with mixing her folk style with atmospheric beats and electronics. To mark the change in her approach, she adopted the stage name Vera Blue and in 2016 released the EP Fingertips. A year later, she delivered her sophomore full-length album Perennial. On the heels of her success, Pavey collaborated with Flume on the song "Rushing Back," which hit number 12 on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. She also toured heavily, headlining her own shows as well as supporting both Flume and Maggie Rogers.

Girl Talk (aka Pittsburgh's Gregg Gillis) has been constructing meticulous sample-based music since 2000. His early work was known for its raw experimental nature, but by the release of his 2006 album, Night Ripper, that style evolved into genre-smashing, breakneck-paced party jams. Night Ripper consisted of over 300 songs, from wildly disparate Top 40 genres and eras, mashed up and layered together into one cohesive collage. It received critical acclaim, and the attention resulted in a rapidly growing fan base. Gillis ended up quitting his biomedical engineering day job one year later.
Girl Talk continued to develop his signature style with the release of Feed the Animals in 2008 and All Day in 2010. Each album grew increasingly detailed and complex. He steadily toured over the following years, bringing his renowned confetti-covered and sweat-soaked performances to venues ranging from house party basements to major festivals. By 2014, Gillis began focusing on collaborative work producing hip hop for some of his favorite rap artists. That same year, he released "Broken Ankles," an EP with Freeway. Since "Broken Ankles," Gillis has steadily earned an impressive list of production credits and collaborations with his artistic contemporaries including, but not limited to, Wiz Khalifa, T-Pain, Tory Lanez, Young Nudy, Bas, Cozz, Erick The Architect (from Flatbush Zombies), Smoke DZA, and Don Q.
Despite their name, Australian rock band Holy Holy hold no affiliation to any organization, but they can carry a song into the heavens.
Formed by Brisbane vocalist Timothy Carroll and Melbourne guitarist Oscar Dawson, the band came into being over years and continents. The guys first met in Southeast Asia during volunteer teaching travels, and then reconnected in 2011 in Europe, where Carroll was gigging as a singer/songwriter in Stockholm and Dawson was in Berlin with his then-band, Dukes of Windsor.
Upon their separate returns to Australia, they decided to make it official. Ryan Strathie joined on drums, Graham Ritchie on bass, and producer Matt Redlich provided synth support. Holy Holy released their first single, "Impossible Like You," in early 2014 and their four-song debut EP, The Pacific, soon followed. A year later they released their debut album, When the Storms Would Come, a ten-song collection of expansive, guitar-based soundscapes in the vein of Mark Knopfler or CSNY.
Riding on the radio success of their massive single "You Cannot Call for Love Like a Dog," they sold out shows and toured Australia and Europe. In 2016, the band returned with "Darwinism," which was included on their sophomore effort. Paint arrived in 2017 and peaked in the Top Ten of the Australian album charts.
Sasha McLeod (born 2002), known professionally as Sycco, is an Australian singer-songwriter and producer from Brisbane. She was nominated for Triple J Unearthed Artist of the Year in 2020, having released the pop singles "Nicotine" and "Dribble" in the same year.
In March 2022, Sycco released "Superstar". Of the song, Sycco said “I’m really proud of this song... the lyrics are satirical obviously – I used to work at a grocery store and it was fun to imagine a glowed-up future me having a tantrum in there."
In September 2022, Sycco released "Ripple" with Flume. In a press release, Sycco said the track was "really fun" to make and "came together super quickly". Sycco said Flume and Chrome Sparks "did such a great job on the production", developing what she describes as "a beautiful environment of synths and drums that evoke such a nice feeling of ease but also discomfort at points".
Tori Levett is one of Sydneys most influential artists on the rise in the electronic bass scene. Not only is she a DJ, she’s a producer and vocalist. Tori has already secured major features and collaborations with international producers such as Zeds Dead and NGHTMRE, and with many more to come.If you haven’t been lucky enough to see a Tori Levett DJ set, or her live show you can expect a throw down of heavy Bass house, trap, hip hop and dubstep. On the road Tori has played shows alongside Quix, Subtronics, Shockone, What So Not as well as festival slots that have seen her travel across Australia, Bali, New Zealand, Japan and Malaysia. 2022 we can only expect big things from this young artist. ARIA double-platinum six-piece Sydney collective Winston Surfshirt have spent the past six years establishing themselves as one of Australia’s, and the world’s, finest R&B-soul outfits. Building a dedicated fanbase off the back of two dreamy albums and a handful of unforgettable collaborations, they’re a group of unassuming cult heroes making music that’s old-school in feel and modern in style. Led by the eponymous Winston Surfshirt, the band channel a vintage kind of rock stardom, one led less by ego than by openness, earnestness, and a drive to share their music with the world.

The latest single ‘Of Another Kind’ features neo-90s Sydney based artist Milan Ring and local rapper Jerome Farah to add their unique abilities to Winston’s jazzed up and smoky melodies. As sharp yet hypnotic lashings of brass cut through a syncopated intro, husky verses from Winston and Milan match the rolling, bombastic flows of Jerome Farah. Starring the classic Winston Surfshirt accompaniment of organic percussion and warm textures, “Of Another Kind” is an easy and inviting listen.
